it’s been a while

since she’s felt like this

At least a week, I’d say.

she thought it would go away

like it did last time

so fast

so smoothly

like nothing had happened

but then. in the middle of the night

it hits her.

like a sucker punch to the chest.

she’s coding

rain clouds over her bed

landing on the base of her neck

making her pillow wet

but if someone comes

nothing happened

the heat dries the water of her cheeks
